New Year proving to be very busy at BRC!
Our own, 5th BRC International Rugby 10s, sponsored by Global Power Services is only weeks away and set to be the biggest yet, with 142 teams across 10 age groups!
We are also in the process of finalizing fixtures against Hong Kong National Under 14s & Under 16s, which will include BRC players in select squads, playing alongside boys from local schools in representative teams. Two years ago a combined BRC & SMSS team pushed HK hard at Under 16 but just lost – Hopefully we go better this time and win!
On top of that invitations are going out for the Crown Relocations XVs Tournament which this year is planned for two weekends – May for Under 16 and October for Under 14.
Not satisfied with that, BRC have just signed a contract to bring six coaches over from New Zealand for the period 9-17 March. They will come from Inside Running Academy based in Bay of Plenty.
The trip is being sponsored by David Laing & Cititel Express Hotel and subsidised by BRC to provide more free coaching to young players in Malaysia.
The coaches will work with BRC & with Sekolah Menengah Sains Selangor who will host a residential camp for their students and for students from other schools in the Klang Valley and Negeri Sembilan including Primary Schools, as we continue efforts to help the development of rugby at younger age groups here in Malaysia.
Discussions are ongoing to add a further residential camp at Sekolah Tuanku Abdul Rahman in Ipoh.
After coaching players in the day, the New Zealand coaches will be running Coach Education Sessions for BRC coaches & parents and for teachers from Malaysian Schools.
These will be targeted at all levels of coaches, so that everyone can gain something from the trip.
Players & Coaches at BRC, look out in your email for full details of dates and times which will come soon.
